Roy V. Wolfe, Jr., 85, Gate City, VA passed away, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Mason Health Care Center, Mason, OH.
Roy was born in Scott County, VA on April 21, 1928 to the late Roy V., Sr. and Rachel Craft Wolfe.
He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army where he served in the occupation of Japan. He was a member of the VA State Bar, and a former member of the Virginia State Senate.
Roy held offices of Deputy Clerk of the Scott County Circuit Court, the Scott County Commonwealth's Attorney, and Magistrate for the U.S. Court of the Western District of VA.
He was a Deacon of Community Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of the Gideons, a 50 year member of the Masons, as well as a member of several other civic organizations in the community.
In addition to his parents, his infant brother, James, and sister, Margaret "Peggy" Bradshaw preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Mary Ruth Nickels Wolfe, Mason, OH; sons, Charles Wolfe and wife, Lynn, Crofton MD and R.V. Wolfe, III and wife, Terri, Harrisonburg, VA; daughter, Rachel Wolfe Healy and husband, Mark, Mason, OH; grandchildren, Laura Lasonczyk, Michael Lasonczyk, Kyle Lasonczyk, Connor Wolfe, Camden Wolfe, Ian Wolfe, and Katie Wolfe; brothers-in-law, Charlie Nickels and wife, Jane and Robert Lewis; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:0 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Barber officiating. Judy McConnell will provide the music.
Military graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA conducted by the American Legion Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Michael Lasonczyk, Connor Wolfe, Ian Wolfe, Kyle Lasonczyk, Bill Bradshaw, Boyd Lewis, Joe Wolfe, and Barry McConnell will serve as pallbearers. Charlie Nickels and Robert Lewis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
