Fred Winkler – Nickelsville, VA
Fred James Winkler, Sr., 53, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Friday, January 28, 2022, at his residence.
Fred was born in Hickory, NC and was the son of the late Una Marie (Moore) Winkler.
He was a member of the Tipton’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, his son, Noel Dorton, brother, James Gilbert, Jr, and best friend, Ralph Estepp, I preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Ruby Faye (Ramey) Winkler; children, Ralph Estepp, II and fiancé, Missy Coleman, Anthony Estepp and wife, Maranda, Christopher Estepp and wife, Alexa, J.J. Winkler, Brittney Lovelace, Kayleff Dorton, and adopted son, Clay Ball and fiancé, Angel; grandchildren, Magnolia Mae Estepp, Lacy Lovelace, Rozalee Ball, Duke Estepp, and Dylan Ball; siblings, Edward Winkler and wife, Mary, Linda Winkler, Kenneth Winkler and wife, Grace, Pam Kegley and husband, Guy, and Joey Gilbert and wife, Angel; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rex McMurray and Rev. Mike Gilliam officiating. Ronnie Tipton, Doris, Tipton, and Nancy Peters will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Tipton’s Chapel Cemetery, in the Manville community of Gate City, VA. Chris Hammonds, Lonnie Duty, Michael Sutton, Chris Estepp, Anthony Estepp, and Clay Ball will serve as pallbearers. Ralph Estepp, II and Terry Sutton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday for the graveside service.
