John Gilbert Willis – Weber City, VA
John Gilbert Willis, 87, Weber City, VA passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his residence.
John was born in Lynch, KY on December 10, 1926, a son of the late George Washington and Laura Belle Finns Willis.
He was retired from Mason Dixon.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Marie Willis; his sisters, Alice, Irene, Jewell, Edna, and Ruby; and brothers, Howard, Ralph, Hubert, Fay, and Leon preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sisters, Alleen Pence, Kanapolis, NC and Elizabeth Bates, Weber City, VA; brothers, Rev. George Willis, Jr., Weber City, VA, Charles “Jiggs” Willis and wife, Flora, Weber City, VA, and Roy Lee “Dodge” Willis and wife, Janet, Weber City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Pat Hammond officiating. Midway Harmony will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
