Herschel Cline Williams – Weber City, VA

Herschel Cline Williams, 81, of Weber City, VA went home to be with the Lord and beloved family members on the morning of February 28, 2011 at Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Herschel was a lifelong resident of Scott County. He was employed by AFG Industries for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Herschel proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brett Williams, his mother, Maxie (McClellan) Williams, his beloved wife of 29 years, Sylvia Jaree (White) Williams, youngest son, Bobby Lynn Williams, and one sister, Jeanell (Williams) Parks.

Herschel is survived by daughter, Mrs Joseph (Betty) Alessandrini of Newark, DE; sons, Herschel Cline Williams, Jr and wife Wanda, of Gate City, VA; Darrell Lee Williams and wife, Diane, also of Gate City, VA; brother, James Williams of Yellow Springs, OH; sisters, Dana Haegle of Cincinnati, OH, Arbeauta Grotjohn of St. Louis, MO; Joann Peters of Joliet, IL, and Ruth Henry of Gate City, VA; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and one very special friend, Gladine Gibson. The family also wishes to acknowledge all of Herschel's good friends at Hardee's.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel at Gate City Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2011 with Kenneth Kiser and Lilbert Thornburg officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Music will be provided by Greg and Becky White.

Pallbearers will be Rudy Gibson, Cory Hill, Kevin Quillen, Danny Parks, Gary Hill, and Willie White. Honorary Pallbearers are John Ferguson, James W. Smith, Joe Rusek, Roger McClellan, and Sam Sharpe.

Burial will be at the Holston View Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 Eastern Star Lodge members will provide a luncheon at the Nickelsville Masonic Lodge Hall following the graveside service.
