Hazel Williams, 84, entered into rest April 13, 2011 at Brian Center after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 13, 1926 in Scott County, daughter of the late Thomas and Pollie Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Kenneth Williams and six sisters, Ida Darnell, Lantha Lowe, Gertrude Peters, Kathleen Darnell, Irene Lane and Iva Wisley.
She was everyone's favorite aunt and loved by all.
She was a graduate of Shoemaker High School and was retired from Chapman Drug Company. She was an active member of Holston View United Methodist Church.
She is survived by Nephews, Gerald Fay Darnell (Special Nephew) of Weber City, Odene Darnell of Ft. Blackmore, Bernard Darnell of Weber City, Lowell Lowe of Church Hill, Elwood Peters of Arkansas, Gary Peters of Georgia, Bobby Lane of Kingsport, Phil Lane of Kingsport, Darryl K. Williams of Sweetwater, TN and Arthur Williams of Gate City, VA. Nieces include Dana Williams of Gate City, Daris Frazier of Gate City, Charlene Lawson of Gate City, Mildred Peters of Weber City, Frances Williams of Duffield, Jackie Bellamy of Gate City, Phyllis Lowe of Gate City, Inez Herrmann of Kingsport, Sharon Peters of Kingsport, Phyllis Darnell of Ft. Blackmore, Sylvia Darnell of Ft. Blackmore, Nelda Darnell of Ft. Blackmore, and Dixie Bullion of Kingsport, TN.
Others include a special niece-in-law, Betty Darnell of Weber City and a special friend, Dan Bullion of Kingsport, TN., several great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great nephew and one great-great-great-great niece.
Services for Hazel Williams will be held Saturday April 16, 2011 at Gate City Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel at Gate City Funeral Home with the service at 2:00 p.m.
The grave side service will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City VA. Rev. Don Hanshew will officiate and Eddie Henry will provide the music.
Pallbearers will be nephews and Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Bellamy, Mike Castle and Eddie Henry.
