Ezra Leon Williams, 86, Kingsport, TN passed away, Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Holston Manor.
Mr. Williams was born in Scott County, VA on March 20, 1925, son of the late Henry and Ethel Bellamy Williams.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was an avid member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Eagles, and the Moose Lodge. He was a past commander of the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the V.F.W. and was retired from the Meade after 40 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael David Williams, brothers, Ambers, Paul, Willie, John, Alvin , and Carl Williams; sisters, Mary Williams, Pat Kerns, Shirley Reed, Pearl Grisby; along with several half brothers and sisters; and the mother of his children, Margaret Hite.
Surviving are his son, Stephen Leon Williams, Kingsport, TN; granddaughter, Cecilia Williams; grandson, Camaron Williams; dearest friend of 20 years, Bessie Ward, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Rose Cooper, Kingsport, TN, Lola Minnich and husband, Kelsie, Kingsport, TN; mother of his children, Frances Larkin, Church Hill, TN; several nieces, nephews, half brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Stout officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the V.F.W. Danny Williams, Lowell Williams, Renda Williams, and Alan Winegar will serve as pallbearers.
The family will meet at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m., Thursday to go to the graveside service.
