Emogene Graham Williams, 80, of Hiltons Community passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Emogene was born April 7, 1934 daughter of the late Jefferson Thomas and Oakley Quillen Graham. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was an active member of Hilton Missionary Baptist Church from Sept. 1979 until present and she shared the good news at every opportunity. Emogene delighted in spending time with her family, eating Sunday dinners at Cracker Barrel and El Portillo. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Emogene was a retired custodian from Scott County School Board. She worked at Midway Elementary, Twin Springs and Gate City Middle/High Schools where she took great pride in doing a good job.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband (of 50 years) Bruce Williams, her parents, sister; Marie Sims, and brothers; Hubert, Kelly and M.C. “Chat” Graham.
She is survived by her daughters; Kathy and husband Earl Culbertson, Loretta and husband Sam Cruby, granddaughters; Melissa Large and fiance Chris , Davina Culbertson, Amy and husband Michael Page, Amber and husband Jody Barker, grandsons; Douglas, Jr. and wife Erin Culbertson, David Culbertson, Jr and fiancée Samantha Adkins, great grandchildren; Taylor Cumbow, John Large, Jr., Emma Large and their father J.D Large, Samuel Page and Abigail Barker, sisters; Geneva Steffey, Vivian Folden, and brothers; J.T.”June Graham”, Elmer Graham and life-long friend, Julie Hammonds.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Steven Adkins and all the Hospice caregivers for their love and care of our Mommy, Mamaw, and GG.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times throughout the week at the Williams residence. Funeral services for Emogene will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Travis Nickels officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Williams Family Cemetery in Nickelsville, VA. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will meet at the funeral home from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.
