Betty Jo Williams, 76, Yuma community of Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side.
Born in Russell County, VA on May 17, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Bertha Hess Morrison.
Betty was retired from Tri-City Linen and Uniform with over 28 years of service.
In addition to her parents, her husband, James M. Williams; her first husband and father of her children, Thomas J. Freeman; grandson, Joshua Thomas Freeman; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Freeman; and brother, James Morrison preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Duvall and husband, Jerry, Williamston, NC, Linda McDavid and husband, J.C., Kingsport, TN; and Wanda Winegar, Gate City, VA; sons, Tommy Freeman, Church Hill, TN, Danny Freeman and wife, Debbie, Gate City, VA, and Jim Freeman and wife, Lisa, Blackwater, VA; grandchildren, Lori Freeman, Amy Duvall, Jennifer Freeman, Margaret Lane Sluss, T.J. Freeman and wife, Felicia, Carrie Lloyd and husband, Daniel, and Chris Edwards; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Rosie Queen, Nickelsville, VA and Nancy Shelton, Gate City, VA; brother, William Morrison and wife, Jo, Gate City, VA; step niece, Sandy Chapman and husband, Ronny; special daughter-in-law, Goldie Freeman; and a special friend, Bob Wallen; and her constant companion, her cat, Feisty; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne McCarty, Brother Mark “Pete” Barbour, and Rev. Jerry Scalf officiating. Danny Moneyhun and daughters will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Freeman Cemetery, Yuma Road, Gate City, VA. Her children will serve as pallbearers. T.J. Freeman, AmyDuvall, Carrie Lloyd, Daniel Lloyd, Shannon Foster, Sandy Chapman, Ronny Chapman, Lori Shelton, Lorie Freeman, and Chris Edwards will serve as honorary pallbearers.
