William “Wayne” Bishop, Sr. – Gate City, VA

William “Wayne” Bishop, Sr., 84, passed away, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at NOVA Health and Rehab.

Wayne was born on June 30, 1939, in Clinchport, VA, to the late James Kenneth Bishop and Lou Belle (Mullins) Bishop.

Along with his parents, his brothers-in-law, Bud Powers, and Paul Lane preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary (Taylor) Bishop; son, William Wayne Bishop, Jr. (Kim); sisters, Ernestine Powers, Janelle Lane, Audrey Ervin (Ken), and Beverly Rhoton (J.L.); brothers, James Edward Bishop (Lynn), and Mike Bishop; grandchildren, Taylor Grace Bishop; special friends, Mack Lark, and James Able Oney; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Marcus Smith and Christian Smith will provide the music.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
