Dungannon, VA ? Elmer Lynn "Catfish" Whitley, 69, entered into rest Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Scott County, VA May 28, 1938 to the late Joseph Oscar Whitley and Bertha Edna Taylor Whitley.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Whitley, Dungannon, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jim Berry, Kingsport, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Delores Whitley, Kingsport, TN; sister, Mary Jane Archer, Gate City, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Georgia Whitley, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Travis Whitley, Seth Berry, Caitlyn Berry and Kelsey Whitley; great grandchildren, Ashley Berry, Trever Whitley and Sierra Whitley; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Red Salling and Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Sluss Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Valley View Church, Dungannon, VA.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the Whitley family.
