Mrs. Lola Dell White, 80, Nickelsville, VA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2013 with her family and friends by her side.
Lola Dell was born, December 16, 1932 to Arthur L. Meade and Maude H. Meade. She was a member of Culbertson Chapel United Methodist Church and attended and sang in the Methodist Church Community Choir until her illness. She had a beautiful tenor voice and loved to sing praises to God.
Lola Dell loved God, her family and friends with all her heart. She was always giving and never asking for anything in return. She was a blessing to our family and so many other people and we thank God for sharing her life with us.Her sweet smile will always be remembered.
In addition to her parents, Lola Dell was preceded in death by her brother, Leland Meade.
Lola Dell is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Charles Preston, Jr., loving daughter, Teresa Wallen and husband, Carl, a very special and caring son-in-law, Gate City, VA; loving sons, Wade White and wife, Angie, Nickelsville, VA, Preston White, Nickelsville, VA, Wendell White and wife, Amy, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Nikki Gardner, April Fields, Lee White, Drew Wallen, Chase White, Baylee White, Tamara Sawyer, and Tristen Sawyer; great grandchildren, Megan, Paige, Lexie, Emily, and Willow; sister, Valace Dougherty and twin sister, Iva Nell Ferguson and husband, John; along with several nieces, nephews and many, many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Carl Wallen. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Barber, Rev. Bob Carbary and Rev. Scott Fields officiating. Music will be provided by the Scott County Community Choir, Randy Kilgore and Nina Williams.
Graveside services will be conducted by Evangelist Garry Hood at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Chester Dean, Gary Salyer, Carl Gibson, Lee White, J.L. Dougherty, Darrell Dougherty, Johnny Ferguson, Arthur Ferguson, Michael Ashworth, and Mody Keith will serve as pallbearers. Jarvis Vicars and Barry Compton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and Friends are asked to meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Louthan, Dr. Springer, Kim Honaker, Dr. Homoky, and other physicians, nurses, PCT and CNAs that went above and beyond their call of duty to help comfort Mom and our family. Special caregivers, Wanda Salyer, Donna Kilgore, Lakie Hall, and hospice nurse, Liza Mills; Becky Casey and Liz Hubbard who were there for Mom and our family until the end. Not wanting to leave anyone out, we wish to thank our church families and many friends for their prayers, love and support of Mom and our family. May God bless each of you and we love you dearly.
