Billy “Big O” White – Kingsport, TN
Billy “Big O” White, 59, Kingsport, TN passed away, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his residence in Kingsport after a lengthy illness.
Billy was born in Dayton, OH on December 4, 1954 to the late Claude and Pauline Rhea White. He was raised by his grandmother, Edna S. Rhea and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was an avid Dobyns Bennett sports fan. Billy was a sports official for TSSAA and Kingsport City Recreational Department for over 25 years. He coached several youth little league ball teams in the area.
He was retired from Holston Valley Hospital after 28 years of service as a PCT.
He loved his wife, daughter, and granddaughters more than anything.
In addition to his parents and grandmother, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eileen and Paul Hobbs preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, LouAnn Hobbs White, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Lindsey Stanley and husband, Mike, Kingsport, TN; granddaughters, Cheyenne and Madison Stanley; sister, Tereasa McCrady and husband, Roger, Waldorf, MD; brother, Steve White and wife, Brenda, Kingsport, TN; along with several nephews and one great niece.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Dorothy Argoe will do a reading of the Lord’s Prayer and Carolyn Gibbons will provide a eulogy. Crystal Shipley will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m.., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Billy’s name.
