Paul Boyd "Blackie" Weddle, 70, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Weddle was born in Russell County, VA on October 19, 1939, a son of the late Homer Dale and Elsie Marie Barnes Weddle. He worked for Bassett Dairy Milk Co. and for Steadman Construction upon retiring to Scott County, VA in 2001. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers and sisters, and a brother, June Weddle. Surviving is his wife, Zelda Weddle, Nickelsville, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Williams and husband, Tim; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff Weddle and wife, Conda, Nickelsville, VA and Jerry Weddle and wife, Janice, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Pance Kecev, Allen Weddle, MorganWeddle, Savannah Williams, Kenzly Weddle, Brooklyn Weddle, Brennon Weddle, and Taylor Weddle; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline King, Lebanon, VA, Nyla Dean and husband, Walter, Nickelsville, VA, and Ann Hillman and husband, Junior, West Milton, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Ballard Weddle and wife, Mae, Abingdon, VA; sister-in-law, Margie Weddle, Lebanon, VA; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Mellons, the Rev. Eddie Taylor, and the Rev. Lelbert Thornburg officiating. The Pleasant View Choir will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Allen Weddle, Tim Williams, Pance Kecev, Randy Lawson, Frank Taylor, Lawrence Dean, Gary Dougherty, and Billy Dean will serve as pallbearers. The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service. Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Weddle family.
