Cecil Lee Watson of Daleville, Virginia, aged 75, passed away on June 11, 2016 at home after battling chronic illness. Mr. Watson was born in Sedalia, Missouri, son of Charles and Rhoda. After graduating Smith-Cotton High School in 1958, He joined the United States Army, serving for four years. Cecil moved to Scott County, Virginia after being honorable discharged from the army in 1962, living there for next 50 years, 30 of them as an employee of Appalachian Power. He moved to Daleville, Virginia in 2012 to be with family and care for his ailing wife, Brenda by whom he is survived. He is additionally survived by his son Brian and daughter-in-law Patricia of Daleville, Virginia, two sisters, Betty of Jefferson City, Missouri and Sarah and her husband William Paul of Manville, Virginia; brother-in-law Fred and wife Jean of Kingsport, Tennessee; and many special nieces and nephews and their spouses and children from throughout the United States.
Visitation will be held at Gate City Funeral Home from 10 am to 11 am on June 14, 2016. The funeral will follow at 11 am at Gate City Funeral Home. Cecil will be laid to rest at Holston View Cemetery, near the graves of his Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Emma, who precede him in death.
