Brenda Watson, aged 72, of Daleville, Virginia went to be with the Lord after a long struggle with chronic illness. Born in Kingsport, Tennessee to parents Fred and Emma Wampler, she was a near-life-long resident of Scott County, Virginia. She graduated Gate City High School in 1962 and East Tennessee State University in 1966 with a B.A. in education. She was an employee of the Scott County School System for over thirty years, teaching various primary grades. During that time, she also earned an M.A. ED from Tusculum College in 1991. After becoming ill in 2012, She moved to Daleville, Virginia along with her husband, Cecil, of 48 and a half years to be closer to family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Trish Watson of Daleville, and her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jean Wampler of Kingsport, and beloved nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces. Visitation will be held from 11am to noon on Tuesday, December 6 followed by funeral services at Gate City Funeral Home. Afterward, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Cecil, at Holsten View cemetery near the graves of her parents, Fred and Emma, not far from her childhood home to await the day of the resurrection.
