Emma Wampler – Gate City, VA
Mrs. Emma Page Wampler, 92, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, July 30, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Wampler was born in Scott County, VA on March 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Siota and Etta Groves Page. She was a former teacher in the Sullivan County School System and was a charter member of the Holston View United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Wampler; sisters, Lula Page, Rozella Page Kendricks; brothers, Tom S. Page, Siota Page, Jr., and Miles D. Page.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Joyce Wampler Watson and husband, Cecil, Gate City, VA; son, Fred C. Wampler and wife, Jean, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Brian Watson, MD, PhD, Vicki Wampler Ward, and Stephen Wampler, great grandchildren, Blake Wampler and Erika Wampler; sister, Vada Page Tomlinson and husband, Fred, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law Helen Page.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Holston View United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church with the Rev. Bob Copeland and the Rev. Don Hanshew officiating. Fellowship Trio will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Church family friends will serve as pallbearers.
