Allen Roy Wallen – Kingsport, TN
Allen Roy Wallen, 78, Kingsport, TN went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Scott County, VA on May 19, 1935, he was the son of the late William Earnest and Pearlie Hale Wallen. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Ross Campground UMC and Valley Center UMC.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Tennessee Eastman with 27 years of service.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Rufus Wallen and nephew, Ricky Wallen preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Faye Wallen, Kingsport, TN; sister, Gerlene Darter and husband, Bob, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Jack Wallen and wife, Paulette, Kingsport, TN and Bill Wallen and wife, Sue, Duffield, VA; sister-in-law, Frances Wallen, Gate City, VA; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Sid Payne, Rev. William Bowen, and Rev. Mike Ladd officiating. The Bowen family will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Gardens by The American Legion #3, Kingsport, TN and #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Joel Clark, Justin Skeens, Lester Bowen, Greg Wallen, Clinton Hensley, Chris Wallen, Kenny Dingus, Buford Hensley, and Junior Crawford will serve as pallbearers. Don Brooks, Johnny Hammonds, and Ron Kinley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
