Mrs. Alice Gillenwater Wallen, 81, Duffield, VA passed away, Friday, August 22, 2008 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA.
Mrs. Wallen was born in Scott County, VA on November 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Rufus and Ethel Compton Gillenwater.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Brickey, Stella Brickey and Maxie Gillenwater and brothers, Corbett, Brodus and Darius Gillenwater. She is survived by her husband, Junior Wallen, Duffield, VA, sons, Charles Wallen and wife, Phyllis, Duffield, VA and Bobby Wallen, Duffield, VA grandson, Michael David Wallen and her sister-in-law, Maude Gillenwater, Gate City, VA, along with several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Johnny Duncan and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. The Lee Smith Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Gillenwater Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Jim Williams, J.C. Wallen, Larry Wallen, Charles Carter,Jimmy Ray Carter, Michael David Wallen and Dallas Gillenwater will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
