Nickelsville, VA ? Charlie Eugene Vicars, 51, went to be with the Lord, December 16, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born February 1, 1956 in Russell County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Baskom Vicars and Lakie Erie Vicars; including his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Vicars.
Mr. Vicars loved hunting and fishing. He worked 30 years at the Kingsport Press and also worked at A&L Construction.
Survivors include his son, Chris Vicars and wife, Carol, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Christy Harr and husband, Joe, Blountville, TN; very special grandson, Cayden Harr, Blountville, TN; girlfriend, Thelma Whittemoore, Kingsport, TN; very special friend, Tammy Whittemoore, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Garnette Vicars, Bristol, VA and Jerry "Flip" Vicars, Nickelsville, VA; sisters, Francis Morgan and husband, Don, Oakland, CA, Betty Jacobs and husband, Wendel, Castlewood, VA, Nadine Shelly and husband, Danny, Bristol, VA; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the home of Chris and Carol Vicars, Nickelsville, VA. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G.W. White and Rev. Guy Elam officiating. Music will be provided by Greg and Becky White.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Salyer, Darrell Breeding, Roger Sluss, Jerry Meade, Terry Meade and Ronnie Dean.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Vicars, Sidney Dean, David Dean, Alex Dean, Jordan Dean, Joe Harr and fellow employee's of Kingsport Press.
