Doyle Ray Vaughn, 84, of Duffield, VA went to be with his heavenly Father, whom he served faithfully, Saturday, April 14, 2012 after an extended illness.
Doyle was born in Scott County, VA on January 19, 1928, the son of the late William Suthers and Maxie Messer Vaughn. Doyle enjoyed attending church at the Pentecostal Powerhouse and always prayed for lost souls. He also enjoyed gardening and being with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his daughter; Shirley Ann Nufio, son; Marlin Vaughn, sisters; Norma Wilder, and Daisy Tomlinson, and brothers; Husler, Everett, William Suthers Jr., and Frank Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle Gilliam Vaughn, daughters; Margaret Coral McComas and special friend Jimmy Wright of Duffield, VA., Glenda and husband Ron Reams of Baltimore, MD., Carolyn and husband Charles Singleton of Duffield VA., and Patricia and husband Dexter Egan of Duffield VA, son; Roger and wife Brenda Vaughn of Duffield VA., brother; Sam Henry and wife Alberta Vaughn of Yuma VA., twelve grandchildren; Marlin McComas, David McComas, Jimmy McGovern, Michael McGovern, Jimmy Cornwell, Dawn Hinkle, Charles Singleton Jr., Chastity Singleton, Linda Della Rosa, Roger Vaughn Jr., Ricky Taylor and Shaina Taylor, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2012 at Gate City Funeral Home in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 8:00p.m. with Pastor Dewayne Williams and Evangelist Larry McAmis officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Adams Cemetery in Duffield, VA., on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
