Laura Jean Tomlinson – Kingsport, TN
Laura Jean Tomlinson, 94, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, April 4 2014 at the residence of her daughter.
Mrs. Tomlinson was born in Scott County, VA on October 27, 1919 to the late Will and Lou Stacy Clendenin.
She was of the Methodist faith and attended Purchase Ridge Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, R.C. Tomlinson, Sr.; her son, Charles Tomlinson; sister, Gertrude Clendenin; and brother, Ed Clendenin preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Sanders, Kingsport, TN, Ramona Boy, Kingsport, TN, and Frankie Bishop, Kingsport, TN; son, R.C. Tomlinson, Jr. and wife, Saundra, Duffield, VA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Johnnie Tomlinson Stowell, Orlando, FL; along with several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. The Weber City Baptist Church Singers, Kari White, Josh Taylor, and Melinda Taylor will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Tomlinson Cemetery in the Purchase Ridge community of Duffield, VA. Tim Fields, Jeff Sanders, Barrett Sanders, Dustin Bishop, Brandon Bishop, Leland Sanders, and Chris Repass will serve as pallbearers. Donnie Page, Bradley Arthur, and Matthew Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
