Frank D. Tomlinson – Gate City, VA
Franklin Delano Tomlinson, 81, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Tomlinson was born in Scott County, VA on March 31, 1933 to the late William and Nannie Elizabeth (Chapman) Tomlinson. He was retired from A.F.G. Industries.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gate City where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman who loved teaching his grandchildren to fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Adellee Creech and brothers, Fred Tomlinson and Carl Tomlinson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Godsey Tomlinson, Gate City, VA; sons, Frankie Tomlinson and wife, Deanne, Austin, TX and Mark Tomlinson, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Tomlinson, Austin, TX and Andrew Tomlinson, Atlanta, GA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Andy Barnes, Rev. Roc Collins, and Rev. Jeff Deboard officiating. The Gate City First Baptist Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Matthew Tomlinson, Andrew Tomlinson, Bobby Godsey, Jimmy Daves, Doug Humphreys, David Hill, and Greg Chapman will serve as pallbearers. The Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Gate City will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
