Thressa Ann Tipton – Weber City, VA

Thressa Ann (Spears) Tipton, 84, Weber City, VA went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at her residence.

Thressa was born in Kingsport, TN and was the daughter of the late Kelley and Madeline Beatrice (Hammonds) Spears.

She was a loving wife and mother and was a Daycare Teacher with Abingdon United Pentecostal Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, her daughter, Danita Gail Tipton, sister, Betty Jo Cookenour, and brother, Paul Spears, preceded her in death,

Thressa is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edgar “Big Ed” Tipton, daughters, Cookie McCann and husband, Robert, and Missy Byington and husband, Chad, sons, Mark Tipton, and Matthew Tipton and wife, Rebekah, grandchildren, Jessie Hubbard, Cara Tipton, Chase Tipton, Jordan Byington, Gabriel Tipton, and Julianne Tipton, great grandchildren, Leah Gagliardi, Jackson Hubbard, Taylor Hubbard, Liam Cavin, Ezzy Ward, Daylynn Ward, and Amora Tipton, along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA with Pastor Robert McCann and Assistant Pastor, Chad Byington officiating. Her daughter, Cookie McCann, will provide the music.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m., Thursday to go in procession to the graveside service.
