Ellen Tomlinson Thompson, 86, Duffield, VA passed away, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Scott County, VA on December 6, 1927 to the late Worley and Fannie Gibson Tomlinson.
In addition to her parents, her husband, John Rance Thompson, her sisters, Sarah Christian, Cora Graham, Louise Kerns, and Frankie Tomlinson and brothers, Cornel and Charlie Tomlinson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Lizzibel Fritz, Duffield, VA; brothers, Robert Tomlinson and wife, Lisa, Duffield, VA and Will Tomlinson, Sr. and wife, Frances, Stickleyville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Richard Seiber and Rev. Greg Hill officiating. Kaylor's Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Tomlinson Cemetery on Powell Mountain, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve will serve as pallbearers.
