Danny Wayne Thacker, Sr., 55, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA.
Mr. Thacker was born in Sullivan County, TN on December 29, 1955, the son of the late Elmer Bordon and Eva Mae Spangler Thacke.
In addition to his parents his brothers Gene Lane and Freddie Thacker preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Cruby and husband, Matthew, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Danny Wayne Thacker, Jr. and wife, Michelle, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Makayla Thacker, Matalie Cruby, and one grandchild expected in May of 2012; brother, Bill Thacker and wife, Shirley, Ft. Blackmore, VA and half-brother, Porter Lane and wife, Barbara, Wise, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Thacker Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA officiated by Rev. Charlie Taylor. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Sunday for the graveside service.
