Harlan Kyle Templeton, 79, of Maryville TN, formerly of Kingsport, TN passed away Wednesday May 6th at home.
Born and raised in the Copper Creek community in Gate City, Va. H.K., as his friends and family called him, will be remembered as a loving father, husband and a great friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Templeton and parents Lloyd Templeton and Alice Lane Templeton, as well as, his five siblings.
H.K was an all-star athlete at Shoemaker High School in Gate City, VA and an avid outdoorsman. Hunting, fishing, boating and golfing consumed his spare time, often with his family and his many friends on “the hill” at Scott County Golf Course. After High School, H.K served his country at the U.S Army Air Defense Training Center at Fort Bliss Texas and the 1030th Engineering Battalion of the Virginia National Guard. H.K. started his private career as an electrician at Bays Mountain Construction Co and soon went to Eastman Chemical where he retired from the Power Services Division in 1999 after 40 years of service
H.K is survived by his son and daughter in-law Chris Templeton and Deanna Templeton of Maryville, TN,
son and daughter in-law Michael and Shellie Templeton of Jupiter, FL and daughter Heather Stevens of Brentwood, TN. Also, survived by three grand-daughters he adored, Caitlin Templeton of Maryville, TN, Courtney Belle Templeton of Jonesborough, TN and Alanna Stevens of Brentwood, TN.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Thursday May 14th at Gate City Funeral Home, Gate City VA. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 PM in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held on Friday May 15th at 9:00 AM at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
