Temmens F. Sweeney, 88, Kingsport, TN, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at his residence.

The son of the late Jarvey William Sweeney, and Maggie Sweeney, Temmens was born in Scott County, VA, on August 24, 1934.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Lola Mae (Compton) Sweeney preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Elizabeth Darlene Douglas, Lonna Renee Reed, Sherrie Melissa Sweeney, Annette Claudene Myers; son, James Sweeney; grandchildren, Melissa Hibbard, Charles Reed, William Skeens, Amber Sturgill, Bryan Sturgill, Jarriett Sweeney, Kayla Sweeney, Jon Sweeney, Emily Myers, Michelle Myers, Chase Partin; great-grandchildren, Dylan Powell, Jacob Hibbard, Hunter Reed, Bryan Lee Sturgill, Jarriett Sweeney, Jr., and Chloe Sweeney.

The family will receive friends from 1-3p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Johnny Banks officiating. Caleb Banks will provide the music.

Graveside services will follow at the Sweeney Cemetery in Dungannon, VA. Michael Myers, Josh Hibbard, Dylan Powell, Bryan Sturgill, Jarriett Sweeney, and Jon Sweeney will serve as pallbearers. William Skeens, and James Sweeney will serve as honorary pallbearers.
