Ruth M. Taylor, 92, Kingsport, TN and formerly of Clinchport, VA passed away, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Wise County, VA on June 25, 1917, a daughter of the late Caudle and Alverda Stallard Mullins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sam P. Taylor, a sister, Mattie Ethel Mullins, and brothers, Rev. Otis Mullins, Wolford Mullins, and Billy Dean Mullins.
Of the Baptist faith, and a member of Durham's Chapel Church, she was baptized at the tender age of fifteen.
Surviving are her sisters, Zelma Quillen, Ravenswood, WVA, Edith Mullins Winston, and husband, Elmo, Kingsport, TN, and Ottie Mae Mullins Winston, and husband, Odell, Toledo, OH; brother, M.D. "Jake" Mullins, Duffield, VA; step daughters, Phyllis Taylor Marshall, Kingsport, TN, and Rose Mary Taylor Vicars, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Elder Allen Hensley and the Rev. Joe Hill officiating. Ruth Crawford and Wayne Bledsoe will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
