James Chester Taylor, 68, entered into rest Friday, April 17, 2009 at his residence.

He was born June 23, 1940 in Scott County, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur W. Taylor; one grandchild, two brothers, Keith Taylor and Paul Taylor; one sister, Mary Etta Todd. He was a member of Morrison City Christian Church.

Survivors include his four children; mother, Okie Stacy Taylor, Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie and husband, James, Thompson, Mrs. Frances (J.W.) Depew, all of Kingsport, TN; four brothers, Frank Taylor, Clinchport, VA, Denny and wife, Vicki Taylor, Lincoln Park, MI, Jerry and wife, Jennifer Taylor, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Dwight Taylor and wife, Kathy, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Ministers Bob Underwood and Steve Bufkin officiating.

Music will be provided by Damon Depew. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.

The family will meet at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Taylor, David Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Steve Thompson, Cody Collins, Eric Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Bradshaw, Bill Davidson, Friends at Scott County Tobacco Company and Foster Qualls.
