Donald Ray Taylor, 77, Clinchport, VA passed away, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center. Mr. Taylor was born in Scott County, VA on December 13, 1933, the son of the late William Henry and Estella Moore Taylor. He retired from General Motors as an Inspector.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Taylor in November of 2010; sister, Grace Wolkey, and infant sisters Edith and Callie Taylor; and brothers, Ralph Taylor and Arthur Taylor.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Lynn Taylor, and a special granddaughter, Clinchport, VA; sister, Ilene Maxedon, Conroe, TX; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Chafin, Lebanon, VA and Julie Quillen and husband, Patton, Rye Cove, VA, Dorothy Taylor, Clinchport, VA, and Okie Taylor, Kingsport, TN; brothers-in-law, Allen Berry and wife, Wanda, Mt Carmel, TN, William Eli Berry, Duffield, VA, Worley Cecil Berry and Kay, Jonesboro, TN, and Joe Wolkey, Ruckersville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Hunley officiating. Gary Hunley will also provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at Taylor Family Cemetery, Clinchport, VA. Joe Quillen, Bill Broadwater, Jason Lane, Jason Berry, Chris Quillen, Nathaniel Quillen, Patrick Quillen and Orbin Lane will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
