Roger Glenn “John Brown” Summey, 65, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Sunday, November 26, 2017.
John Brown was born in Scott County, VA on June 1, 1952 and was the son of the late Fred Lee and Georgia (Ellen) Kerns Summey.
In addition to his parents, his dog, Barney and niece, Wendy Carter preceded him in death.
John Brown leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret Summey, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters, Lisa Summey, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Kaye Falin and husband, Arthur, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Matt Woods and wife, Taylor, Tuesdee Cabrera and husband, Andres; Autumn Pinon and husband, Eric, Peyton Falin and girlfriend, Ashley Nickels, and Kaitlyn Falin; great-grandchildren, Alexis Cabrera, Nolan Pinon, and Raelynn Woods; brother, Tommy Dingus and wife, Lisa, Mt. Carmel, TN; nieces and nephews, Tanner Arrington and wife, Michelle, Ethan Dingus, Donna Poole, Jeff Poole, and Mike Poole. His furbabies, Spunky and Sam. Special friends, Ralph Darnell, Freddie McDavid, Tim Clifton, Lenny Edwards, and his Front Porch friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neely officiating. Toke Hensley, James (Babe) Lawson, Jack Hensley, Mike Hensley, Teresa and Neil McMurray will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Begley Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA. Arthur Falin, Lenny Edwards, Benny Salyers, Ralph Darnell, John Brickey, Jr., and Harvey Thacker will serve as pallbearers. Victor Finch, Herb McDavid, and Buddy Buchanan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Thursday for the graveside service.
