Mrs. Peggy Ruth Summey, 75, Ft. Blackmore, VA went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Summey was born in Scott County, VA on February 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Boyd Sarvis and Helen Blanche Steadham Brickey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Summey; brother, Raymond Brickey; sister, Sue Ella Brickey and Janice Summey; brothers-in-law, Junior Summey, Wayne Bledsoe, and Garnie Summey; and sister-in-law, Barbara Summey.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Trent and husband, Ronnie, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Pansy Wilson and husband, Jeff, Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Sherry Greene and husband, Roger, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Raymond Summey and wife, Cynthia, Kingsport, TN; granddaughters, Rebecca, Robin , Melissa, Jennifer, Tara, and Stacy; grandsons, Allen, Brandon, Ryne, and Matthew; step granddaughters, Vicky and Hannah; step grandsons, Josh and Blake; great granddaughters, Kaylee, Natasha, Holly , Maylee, and Ella; great grandsons, Christopher, Thomas, and Isaac; sisters, Dorothy Begley and husband, Arnold, Kingsport, TN, Beulah Bledsoe, Gate City, VA, Loretta Strazzante and husband, Angelo, FL, and Joyce Horne and husband, Kyle, Dungannon, VA; brother, Sinclair Brickey, Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law, Juanita Summey; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Juanita S. Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. L.W. "Red" Salling officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Brickey Cemetery in the Wood community of Scott County, VA. Brandon Summey, Matthew Summey, David Gillenwater, Tyler Dockery, Ryne Trent, and James Cole will serve as pallbearers. Allen Oaks, Boyd Fannon, and Wahid (Kiddie) Hosein will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
