Janice V. Summey, 76, was called home to be with the Lord, September 6, 2009 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Claude Summey; an infant great grandson, Austin Glen Summey; brother, Raymond Brickey; brothers-in-law, Boyd Summey and Wayne Bledsoe.
She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, James Claude Summey, Kingsport, TN; three daughters, Sharon Ramey and husband, James, Blountville, TN, Brenda Ramey and husband, Mike, Piney Flats, TN, Claudene Haney and husband, Roger, Rogersville, TN; four sons, Glen Summey and wife, Glenda, Church Hill, TN, Danney Summey and wife, Brenda, Gate City, VA, Ronnie Summey and wife, Angie, Clinchport, VA, Mark Summey and wife, Flora, Ft. Blackmore, VA; five sisters, Peggy Summey, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Dorothy Begley and husband, Arnold, Kingsport, TN, Beulah Bledsoe, Gate City, VA, Joyce Horne and husband, Kyle, Dungannon, VA, Loretta Strazzante and husband, Angelo, FL; brother, Sankler "Sank" Brickey, Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Misty Moore and husband, Ron, Chad Summey and wife, Letisha, Steve Summey and wife, Christy, Travis Summey, Tyler Ramey, Jamie Simpson and husband, Cedric, Stacy Thomas, Amber Raby and husband, Tony, Sierra Summey; great grandchildren, Amethyst Moore, Phoenix Moore, Caitlin Summey, Miracle Simpson and Haliegh Summey; special caregiver, Amy Laws; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Grover Starnes officiating. Music will be provided by Working Toward the Promise Singers.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Brickey Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. The family will meet at 3:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Grandsons, Cedric Simpson, Travis Summey, Steve Summey, Chad Summey, Ron Moore, Tony Raby and Tyler Ramey will serve as pallbearers.
