Cline Cecil Strong, 77, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Saturday, May 02, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Strong was born in Scott County, VA on March 30, 1938. He was the son of the late Charlie Issac and Gladys Salyers Strong.
He retired from Pilot Oil Company in 2001 and loved to stay home and play with his best friend and companion, Rufus. He was a wonderful Dad, papaw, and brother.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 35 years, Eva Louise Sluss Strong and brothers, Leon and Peter Strong preceded him in death.
He is survived by his dog, who he treated like a son, Rufus; daughters Susie Crabtree and husband, Daniel “Buck”, Nickelsville, VA and Paula Payne Strong and Allen “Gilly” McCloud; granddaughter, Rachel “Punkin” Louise Howington and Steven Butler, Gate City, VA; grandson, Cody Elliott and wife, Kelli, Gate City, VA; great grandsons, James William and John Cline Butler; sisters, Linda Strong Fleenor, Betty Reynolds, Virginia Davidson, and Kay Draper; brother, Barney Strong along with several nieces and nephews.
At the request of Mr. Strong, graveside services only will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Corder Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Jim Corder, Don Honeycutt, Gary Addington, Mike Strong, and J. Fred Sluss will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 noon to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to convey a special thank you to Wellmont Hospice for all their love and care of their Dad, especially his nurses, Lizza, Hope, and Heather.
