Mabel Ruth Stone, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Kerry Allen in Kingsport.
Mabel was born May 15, 1924 in Duffield, VA, where she spent most of her life but has lived in Kingsport for the past eight years. Until her move to Kingsport, she was an active member of Durham's Chapel Church. Her greatest enjoyments in life seemed to be her family, church, and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Bonnie Fletcher; husband, Charlie Stone; sister, Edith Dingus; and infant brother, Clarence Fletcher.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Gertrude Allen and husband, Kerry; granddaughter, Kimberly Emswiler and husband, Tom; one great grandson, Miles Emswiler; one sister, Ruby Stanley; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law in Kingsport.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. T.J. Hood and Pastor Terry Rhoton officiating. Music will be provided by The Durham's Chapel Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the McNew Cemetery in Stanleytown. Roger Dingus, Dick Doerr, Gary Traverso, Travis Sawyer, Dalton Sawyer, and Ribble Bowen will serve as pallbearers. Orza Stone, Jarl Bowen, Johnny Kern, Larry Prevatte, and Farrell Stanley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
