Mrs. Carrie Lucille Stone, 98, Gate City, VA passed away, Thursday, February 07, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Stone was born in Wise County, VA on September 7, 1914, to the late Wesley Ervin Sluss and Sarah Elizabeth Sluss. She was a member of Three Bells United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Walter Ray Stone; son, James Edward Stone; sisters, Bessie Joyner, Ethel Bishop, Grace Reed, Marie Chapman, Dorothy Sluss; half sister, Joretta Cross; brothers, Haskel Sluss, Wesley Sluss, Jr., Virgil Sluss, and Juana Sluss preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa France and husband, Roger, Kingsport, TN; sons, Bobby Ray "Sonny" Stone and wife, Karen, Dallas, TX and Charles Milburn "Mib" Stone and wife, Jane, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Bobby Ray Stone, Jr., Curtis Dean Stone, Charlie Stone, Alison Stone, Ericka Milford, and Mickey France, Auburn France and Holly France; step-grandchildren, Richard Loncarovich, Garry Loncarovich, Jeff Singleton, and Jeff Slade; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Blanche Hammonds, Kingsport, TN and Gladys Dillard and husband, James, Blountville, TN; brother, Harry Sluss and wife, Shirley, Kingsport, TN; half brother, Bobby Sluss and wife, Brenda, Franklin, TN; brother-in-law, Herman Stallard, Weber City, VA, along with several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Blair officiating. Marilyn and Jim Gates will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Roger France, Mickey France, Charlie Stone, John Milford, Freddy Crabtree, and Tommy Reed will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Hackney, Eddie Bishop, Sam Morrison, and Raymond Miller will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
