Julia May Statzer – Gate City, VA
Julia May Statzer, 75, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Ms. Statzer was born July 7, 1936 in Scott County, VA to the late James Floyd Kerns and Ida Bell Lane Kerns.
In addition to her parents she had two sons Lonnie Randall "Randy" Statzer and Bobby Floyd Statzer precede her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Elsie "Sis" Falin, Knoxville, TN; sons, Lester Lee Statzer and wife, Heather, Nickelsville, VA, and Billy Joe Statzer, Gate City, VA; a special granddaughter, Valerie Ann Statzer and several other grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Bowen, Kingsport, TN, and Elsie Redman, Baltimore, MD; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son, Lester Statzer. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
