Dora Helen Starnes, 87, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mrs. Starnes was born in Scott County, VA on November 7, 1927 to the late Jessie Lewis and Maxie Victoria Ramey Stanley.
She attended Durham’s Chapel Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Frank E. Starnes; sister, Grace Stanley Lane; and brothers, Crawford Clinton Stanley and Charles Gordon Stanley preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Benny Starnes and wife, Kathy, Duffield, VA and Bobby Starnes, Abingdon, VA; grandchildren, Lisa Rhoton and husband, Craig, Duffield, VA, Christopher Starnes and wife, Ailisa, Tampa, FL, Shawn Starnes and wife, Nikki, Gray, TN, Jerry Andy Starnes and wife, Nikki, Kingsport, TN; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Lynn Hilton, Duffield, VA; sister-in-law, Ruby Stanley, Duffield, VA; special friend, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son, Benny and Kathy Starnes. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Hill and Rev. Terry Rhoton officiating. Durham’s Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Hall Cemetery in the Stanleytown community of Scott County, VA. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
