Polly Stapleton, 81, of Nickelsville, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, December 16, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. Stapleton was born in Fall Branch, TN on February 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Cecil and Lola Mae Phillips Jones.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gate City, VA. Polly was a loving and devoted mother to her loving children always placing their needs before her own. She was also a loving friend to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister; Ruby Helton, half-brother; Max Jones and precious great grandson; Will Rock.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, J.B. Stapleton of Nickelsville, VA, daughters; Brenda Stapleton of Gate City, VA., and Carolyn Hambleton and husband John of Elizabethton, TN, son; Mike Stapleton and wife Kim of Kingsport, TN, brother; Eddie Jones of Fall Branch, TN, grandchildren; Michael Bowen, Jamie Rock and husband Jared and Johnnie Hambleton, great grandchildren; Michael Bowen III, and Samuel Rock.
The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery; Weber City, VA. Johnnie Culbertson, Jimmy Castle, Bill Helton, Steve Helton, Craig Chapman, Joey Chapman and Ronnie Chapman will serve as pallbearers. Sam Helton, Joe Chapman, John Fuller and Cecil Curtis will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession.
