James Stapleton – Weber City, VA
James Stapleton, 80. Weber City, VA passed away early Monday morning, December 10, 2012. He was born November 5, 1932 to the late Starling Randolph and Vesta Cora (Bessie) Bledsoe Stapleton. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James E. (Babe) Stapleton.
He graduated from Fairview High School in 1951. He worked at Foote Mineral Company (Cyprus Minerals) for 42 ½ years. He also worked with his brother-in-law, Arvel Lewis, in building several houses for family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Marie Lamb Stapleton; daughter, Teresa Whitman and husband, Terry Thomas; son, Rev. Randall Stapleton and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, April Griffin and husband, Chad, Justin Dougherty and wife, Lindsey, Jonathan Stapleton and wife, Christina, Benjamin Stapleton, Jennifer Barker and husband, Jason, Andrew Dean; great-grandchildren, Alex Griffin, Arabella and Aranel Barker, Emma Grace Stapleton; sister, Ruth Lewis and husband, Arvel; sister-in-law, Rachel Stapleton. He is also survived by nieces Shirley Sullivan and Eugenia Miller, their families and several foster grandchildren.
Calling hours will be at the Gate City Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Juanita S. Falin Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the Holston View Cemetery with the Rev. Odell Beauchamp and Rev. Joe Barber presiding. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
