Una Bishop Stanley, 67, Duffield, VA passed away, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Lee County, VA on October 28, 1949, she was the daughter of Marie (Gilliam) and the late Kenneth Bishop.
She grew up in Lee County where she met Millard Stanley and they wed in 1967, moved to Indiana and raised their family before returning to Scott County. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 3, 2017.
Una was a dedicated housewife who loved to cook and can.
In addition to her father, her son, James Stanley and brother, Kenneth Bishop, Jr. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, George “Millard” Stanley, Duffield, VA; daughter, Sheila Smith, Duffield, VA; son, Justin Shane Stanley and girlfriend, Jennifer Begley, Ft. Blackmore, VA; mother, Marie Gilliam Bishop, Jasper, VA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Berda Wallen and husband, J.C., Duffield, VA and Loretta James and husband, Rusty, Duffield, VA; brothers, Willard Bishop and wife, Virginia, Duffield, VA, Sonny Bishop, Duffield, VA, and Jimmy Bishop and wife, Pam, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Stanleytown Community Church with Preacher Denny Hass officiating. The Hass Family will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Stanley Family Cemetery in the Stanleytown community of Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serves as pallbearers.
