Edna Loraine Snodgrass, 87, entered into rest September 1, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Scott County, VA November 22, 1921 to the late Grover Cleveland Snodgrass and Elizabeth Jennings Snodgrass. She retired from Eastman Kodak after 40 years of service, was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Gate City Baptist Church, Gate City, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth A. Snodgrass and Lillian Snodgrass Sawyer; brother-in-law, Lockwood Sawyer.
Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, June and Harry Penley, Gate City, VA; two nieces, Janet Taylor, Charlotte, NC, Kathy Shumate, Richmond, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard and Rev. Emmitt Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Oaks, Shane Miller, Sammy Penley, Larry Frazier, Jimmy McConnell, Fred Jennings, Gerald Snodgrass, Bobby Gay and Jack Snodgrass.
Robert Jennings will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Snodgrass family.
