Thelma Louise Snodgrass Smythe, 82, Gate City, VA passed away, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Baysmont, Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. Smythe was born in Scott County, VA on July 25, 1931 to the late John Bascome and Ava Margaret Starnes Snodgrass.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Jack Dudley Smythe; sisters, Mary Adams and Broadus Ellis and brothers, Eugene Snodgrass, Buford Snodgrass, and Stuart Snodgrass preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Baumgarner and husband, Greg, Marion, VA and Lynn Chapman and husband, Howell, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Chapman, Brandon Chapman and wife, Amanda, and Alan Baumgarner and wife, Anna; great grandson, Jonathan Baumgarner; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 -1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Jeff Vaughn will provide the music.
Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to convey a special thank you to the staff at Steadman Hill (Asbury Place), Kingsport, TN for their love and care of Mrs. Smythe.
