Sally Ann Smith, 73, entered into rest Monday, November 16, 2009 at her residence.
She was born in Scott County, VA April 10, 1936 to the late Mack Layfte Smith and Vesta Zelma Hartsock.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth Gass and a nephew, Joe Gass.
Sally worked for Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center as a LPN for 37 years. Sally Ann Smith was a true friend to her whole community and was loved by everyone.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Vernon Keith, Jr., Nickelsville, VA; nephews, Mike Gass, Greg Gass and Brian Keith; great nephews, Ben Gass, Nathan Gass, Andrew Gass, Jeremiah Statzer, Johnny Statzer, Jordan Statzer, Nathan Keith; nieces, Aleta Gass, April Statzer; great nieces, Bonnie Gass, Shawnna Statzer, Mary Gass, Leigha Statzer, Holly Statzer and Ashlyn Lane; best friend, Shelby Castle.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times of her residence. Services will be held at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Millard Porter and Henry Wayne Meade officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby and Linda Hillman. Eulogy will be given by Thomas Hillman.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Dixon, Darrel Wayne Meade, Randy Meade, Fred Meade, John Hugh Meade, Rex Gilreath, Ed Charles Brice and Teddy Necessary.
