Mrs. Virginia Ruth McDavid Smith, 82, Daniel Boone Community of Scott County, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Smith was born in Scott County, VA on December 20, 1925 to the late Hugh E. and Mary Dell Moody McDavid.
She was a retired Lab Tech from Eastman Kodak Company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Smith in 2005 and an infant brother.
Surviving are her daughter, Jonnie Pendleton, Gate City, VA; sisters, Maleen Reed, Daniel Boone, VA, Lucille Williams, Daniel Boone,VA, Nell Rice and husband, Bill, Kingsport, TN, Jean Smith and husband, Jim, Daniel Boone, VA and Betty Peters and husband, Oscar, Daniel Boone, VA, brother, Allen McDavid and wife, Helen, Daniel Boone, VA along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 ? 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Lane officiating. Nancy Rhoton will provide piano music.
Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Don Peters, Phil Smith, Dwain Reed, Rodney Vaughan, Brian Jerrell and Roger Estepp will serve as pallbearers. Nephew and brothers-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.
