Shelby J. Smith-Nutter, 78, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
She was born in Scott County on April 3, 1939 to the late Clarence and Eula Mae (Gillenwater) Vermillion.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur (Sonny) Nutter, Jr., Kingsport, TN; daughters, Cathy Lynne Piner and husband, Rodney, Limestone, TN, and Cynthia Smith Price Lowdermilk and husband, Tim, Midway, GA; son, David Michael Smith, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Whitney McKinnie, Gwen Beasley, Ashley Lawson, Brandon Piner, Rusty Smith, Nicole Hensley and Adam Price; many loving great grandchildren; brother, Eddie Vermillion and wife, Jean, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
Per Shelby’s request, her wish was to be cremated. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at Bays Mountain Dam with Pastor Ray Amos, Jr. and Pastor Lewis Kizer officiating. Family and friends are meeting at the Bays Mountain Dam by 1:45 p.m.
