Angeline Broadwater Smith, 79, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Monday, July 25, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Miss Ann was born in Scott County, VA on April 19, 1932, the daughter of the late Robert Jefferson Broadwater and Etta Fay Hilton Broadwater. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, "Nan" and friend. She loved sewing, refinishing furniture, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Reba Castle and brothers, Garland, Aus, and Kenneth Broadwater, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Blanche Smith preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, W.H. Smith, Jr., Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Lavaughn Smith Smallwood, Nickelsville, VA; son, Allen Smith and wife, Mary Ann, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Rachel Smith, Church Hill, TN, Austin Smith, Nickelsville, VA, Kesha Gibson and husband, Shane, Nickelsville, and Rochelle Smith, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Phoenix Hunter, Alivia and Gracie Gibson, and Gage Johnson; sister, Marie Grigsby, Nickelsville, VA; brother, Lowell Broadwater and wife, Peggy, Nickelsville, VA; sister-in-law and dearest friend, Mildred Williams Rasnick, and sister-in-law, Velma Smith; along with several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son, Allen Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G.W. White officiating. A eulogy will be given by Thomas Hillman. Mike and Kay Elliott and Rita Quillen will provide the music.
Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Gabriel Parks, Ricky Parks, Shane Gibson, Kevin Smallwood, Austin Smith, David Parks, and Andy Harris will serve as pallbearers. Zane Parks, James Perry, Scott Stallard, Lowell Broadwater, and Danny Parks will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
