Rosa Victoria Dockery Sloan, 81, Big Stone Gap, VA passed away, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Heritage Hall, Big Stone Gap, VA after a short illness.
Born in Scott County, VA on March 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Cordelia Likens Dockery.
Rosa was full of life. She loved to sing and dance and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed by her friends and family and by the staff and residents of Heritage Hall.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Jake Sloan; son, Elton Dockery; one brother, George L. Dockery; sisters, Edna Ramey, Ellen Snavely, Ruby Gannaway, and Julie Baldwin.
She is survived by her sister, Lois E. Babb, Gate City, VA; special nieces , Helen Jones, Church Hill, TN and Brenda Swanner, Kingsport, TN; special great niece, Melissa Mullins, Jonesville, VA; along with several other nieces and nephews; special friends, Georgia Miles and Wilson McCarty of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends from 12 -1 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Garnie Snavely officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dockery Cemetery on Rye Cove Memorial Road, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
