Charles H. Sloan, 88, Fairview Community, Duffield, VA passed away, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his residence.
Charles was born in Scott County, VA on April 13, 1930. He was the son of the late Steven Ray and Clara Kindle Sloan.
In addition to his parents, his son, Ricky Allen Sloan, his first wife, Flara Belle Falin Sloan (mother of Ricky Allen Sloan and Norman Keith Sloan); sisters, Ida Bess Barrett, Nadine Wilson, and Gladys Head; and brothers, Thomas and O.H. Sloan preceded him in death.
He was retired from the Kingsport Foundry, and was an avid outdoorsman. He spent most of his time outside hunting and gardening. He turned his hobby of digging herbs into a side job in his later years.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Sloan, Duffield, VA; daughter, Rebecca Ann Qualls and husband, Gary, Blackwater, VA; sons, Norman Sloan and wife, Delores, Duffield, VA, Charles H. Sloan, Jr. and wife, Peggy, Arizona, and Christopher Bradley Sloan, Weber City, VA ; grandchildren, Kelley Sloan Lopez and husband, Nico, Gray, TN, Charles H. Sloan, III and wife, Tiffany, Victor Kenneth Sloan, Holly Elizabeth Sloan, and Abigail Sloan; great grandchildren, Justin Wyatt Sloan, Olivia Roxanne Sloan, and Aurora Jayden Sloan; sister, Lucy Jane Johnson, Maryland; brother, Hubert Sloan and wife, Nelle, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home, Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with his good friend, Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Burial will follow the service at the Speers-Gilliam-Sloan Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
