Paul Skeens, 63, died on June 9, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Scott County June 8, 1946 to the late Charlie Skeens, July 1993 and Lona Skeens, 1998.
Mr. Skeens drove a school bus for 32 years for the Scott County School System. He loved riding and working with his horses.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Kay Skeens, August 1976; sister, Thelma Williams, October 2003; father-in-law, Creed Farley, March 1993; brother-in-law, Larry Farley, March 1993; sister-in-law, Melinda Rhoton, August 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Farley Skeens, Gate City, VA; daughter, Paula Karr, Hiltons, VA; sisters, Shirley Davis, Church Hill, TN, Kathy Williams, Gate City, VA; brother, Joe Skeens, Killeen, TX; a special grandson, Austin Ryan Karr; granddaughter, Brianna Elizabeth Mullins; mother-in-law, Vivian Farley; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Will Shewey and Rev. Roy Strong officiating. Music will be provided by Shirley Blackburn and Steve Wells.
Graveside services will be at 11a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Frazier, Robert Parks, Jerry Fleenor, Mike Painter, Kevin Moore, Donnie Bays, Rick Begley, Johnny Castle, and Mike Jones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gate City Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Gate City, VA 24251.
